This year's Summer Sounds concert series, held Monday nights at Monteith Riverpark, begins July 9 with Paul Revere's Raiders.

The oldies rock band features Jamie Revere, son of band founder and namesake Paul Revere, on guitar and backing vocals. Darren Dowler, Ron Foos, Doug Heath, Danny Krause and Tommy Scheckel make up the rest of the lineup.

Paul Revere & the Raiders took the Pacific Northwest by storm in the 1960s and early '70s with hits such as "Kicks," "Good Thing" and "Indian Reservation." Both the Raiders and the Kingsmen recorded "Louie, Louie" at the same Portland studio in April 1963.

Paul Revere & the Raiders were officially inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2007. Paul Revere died of cancer Oct. 4, 2014, at age 76.

Razzvio, billed as electric string pop, takes the stage July 16. Eagle Eyes, an Eagles tribute band, follows on July 23, and The High Street Band brings swing and funk to close out the series July 30.

The City of Albany's Parks and Recreation Department organizers the summer shows. All concerts start at 7 p.m. and are free to the public. Seating is first come, first served.
